Thanks ladies for all you help. Thank God this seems to be just a phase, and it’s pretty much dying out! I reverted back to the good ol’ ‘cry it out’ method and something just clicked within Kaitlyn and now most nights she’s asleep within 30 mins.
Claudia, that’s exactly what Kaitlyn was doing! The second you put her down she would flip over and sit up, and what you’re doing is EXACTLY what I’m doing with her! Those backrubs work great in the middle of the night!!!
Karen, have you read the book yet? I got that book last week and was disappointed with it. It was edited a little weird—it tends to jump from one topic to another very quickly. Also the biggest point I disagree with is that he believes you let them cry w/o checking on them at all—-I tried it the night I bought the book and after 1 hour of straight crying w/o checking on her I was almost in tears!!! Good luck and let me know what you think!!!
Thanks again, I appreciate everyone’s help!!!!!

Discussion: Help! She won’t sleep!!!
Published March 21st, 2007 in South Florida Moms and Parenting. ClosedHi ladies, I hope you can help me!!!
I’m looking, desperately, for some advice ref to Kaitlyn (she’s 10 months now). Last week she seemed to have developed separation anxiety that’s caused her to completely want nothing to do with being in her crib. I called the dr. to get his opinion and he reccommened she ‘cry it out.’
Well, it’s been a week and that is getting us nowhere! She’s sitting/standing up in the crib refusing to lay down. And if we’d let her, she’ll cry all night. At first we brought her to bed with us, but we stopped, not wanting to get her into that habit. The only thing that seems to help is for one of us to lay down next to her crib until she calms down and falls asleep. Then when she wakes up in the middle of the night, we have to start all over.
Do you ladies have any advice for me? Normally I’m pro cry-it-out, but this time that’s just not cutting it!
Thanks so much!!!!!
